The Center for Research and Architectural Development was founded in the 1980s and has been growing steadily. Research topics are varied and include: energy in buildings (including lighting), housing, social aspects, morphology, urban design, theory and criticism in architecture, and issues related to digital design. The main topics funded by government ministries include the development of an energy code for Israel, principles of urban planning, including the development of guidelines for solar rights. The Center sponsors research by faculty members and associate faculty members, as well as graduate students.
