Tamir Arviv
Post Doc

Dr. Tamir Arviv completed his PhD in Planning at the University of Toronto. In his postdoctoral research, under the supervision of Dr. Efrat Eizenberg, He employs qualitative research methods to explore the relationship between the planning and design of high-rise complexes (HRCs) in Israeli cities, and the everyday socio-spatial practices and interactions among residents of seemingly divided social groups and sectors in Israeli society (principally between Arabs and Jews). Beyond his contribution to the existing academic body of knowledge concerning the nexus of city planning, multiculturalism, and shared spaces, Tamir wishes to provide planners, designers and policymakers a deeper understanding of the new social and spatial opportunities and challenges posed by the current trend of HRCs in Israeli cities, just as they are expanding throughout the country as well as other multicultural urban areas around the world.
